Susan Jeske representing Colorado was crowned the first MS AMERICA® on December 4, 1997 at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jeske won a valuable package of cash and prizes totaling $75,000. The pageant was based on evening gown, interview, fitness and on-stage question. She impressed the judges and audience when asked by the emcee about a World Record that she set. Susan holds the World Record, published in the Guinness Book Of Records for singing the National Anthem at the most events in a 24-hour period.
During her reign, Susan created the “Students Against Violence" assembly program where she received more than 30 awards and Proclamations for her presentation.
A professional Image and Beauty Consultant, Susan donated “Makeovers By Ms. America®” to charity events throughout Southern California for live and silent auctions raising thousands of dollars for various non-profit organizations. A professional makeup artist, Susan has been the makeup artist for several magazines and weddings and is in demand as a featured instructor at workshops where she has taught hundreds of women skin care and step-by-step Advance Glamour Makeup application.
In 1997, the founder and owner of the Ms America® Pageant was Richard Simon from Houston, Texas, who used the Corporate name Ms. America Inter-nationale Inc.. In 1999, Susan purchased the Ms. America Pageant from the Ms. America Inter-Nationale Inc. and received the registered federal trademark from the USPTO in Washington DC in February 2000.
Two years later in 1999, Ms. Jeske was given ownership and in 2000 received a registered federal trademark for the pageant from the USPTO in Washington DC.
